The bitterly cold and stupidly short days are behind us, instead of getting home and going to bed (because bleurgh to minus degrees and freak snow showers) I have somewhat of a social life again after work yayayay! That’s if ‘social life’ means eating out for more days a week than I care to admit and using the sun as an excuse to go and find the nearest bar and drink fruit cider in the beer garden until the sun is no more. Either way, the recent tropical weather has me all kid-at-Christmas excitable for what’s to come this year, the social diary is filling up and let me tell you it’s going to be a corker!
Naturally, this excitement got me thinking that I’d give you a little sneak peak in to this year’s plans because there’s no denying we all love a bit of nosiness, right?
As you’re reading this I’m at my good friend Katie’s hen party which I’ve been looking forward to for toooo long, it’s pretty much the event to kick off my summer of fun! Activities include eating, drinking, swimming and most importantly life drawing classes because what’s a hen party without naked men? Here’s to hoping for tall, dark and handsome… I’ll keep you updated and maybe sneak an Instastory or 10!
May is always set to be a good month what with the influx of bank holidays, but for me this year has been made even better with the hen being slap bang in the middle meaning four four-day weeks in a row hiyaaa! We’re actually going to a little festival/concert thing (I’m not really sure what it is to be honest!) during the late May Spring bank hol, Sunday Sessions. This is one of those things we booked on a whim ages ago because well, you can’t not go when it’s on your doorstop and all I know about it is that the Kaiser Chiefs are there but if there’s sun and cider I’m happy!
Probably the most exciting thing to happen this year is that I’m going to be an Aunty which is equal measures crazyyy and amazing. My brother decided to spring the news on us on Christmas day which was pretty special (read: surprising), and Aunty duties start in June with the bubba shower! June also sees the first of two weddings this year, which reminds me I seriously need to get wedding guest dress shopping so if you know of any shops/websites/brands that would be suitable, let me know! I always remember parents and workmates saying ‘you’ll soon get to an age where you’re attending a wedding every other week’ and I think I’m finally there.
As for holidays, last year we went on a few sunny hols – first to Spain and then to Italy – but they were all quite rushed, four days max and we even drove from one side of Italy to the other whilst Sash was working out there. So, as you can imagine, there wasn’t much relaxation involved. This year I’m going to glorious, glorious Lisbon (I say that like I’ve been before – I haven’t, but the pictures look glorious though!). I’m jetting off with two of my best friends for a week of sun bathing, sightseeing and general relaxation. We’re so excited every now and then we have a little Whatsapp countdown and bombardment of holiday related emojis to signify the sheer happiness at the thought (as I write this it’s two months exactly until we’ll be there eeeeek). Anyone would think I’d never been abroad…
That’s probably enough plans for now, hopefully me and Sash will be able to squeeze in a long weekend away somewhere later in the summer or a festive trip, ohhhh maybe Iceland or to visit some Christmas markets! I’m also turning 26 in August so no doubt I’ll do something for that. What are you up to this year, any getaways or big plans??? I’d love to know and swap holiday recommendations etc etc because I’m noseyyy!
Oversharing at its finest right?
