Happy ‘festive season’ beautiful people! My all time favourite few months of the year! That being said I should probably be writing about something a bit more Christmas themed like where to get the best party dresses, what to buy your Nan (please send ideas, I’m struggling!) or my top 5 things to do to get in the festive spirit, but here I am chatting about knitwear. This was very much a panic ‘ahhh I haven’t blogged in a while’ number, prompted entirely by the arrival of this blue jumper of dreams. I promise I’ll get a bit more organised in December and bring some Christmas goodness your way!
As soon as Autumn hits jumpers and jeans are my uniform right through until May, and because of this my wardrobe can end up looking a bit drab and uninspiring. Like most people, I end up wearing the same few outfits over and over until I’m sick to the back teeth of them, and then the fashion rut starts and the ‘nothing to wear’ moaning begins… repeat x 648378!
In a bid to inject a bit of something different to my wardrobe I went on the hunt (metaphorically of course – I was on the sofa under a blanket with a gin in hand no doubt, trawling online site after online site) for a bright but still very wearable knit.
I love a statement piece of clothing, but as time goes on I’ve realised that the pieces that stick around are those basics that I reach for day in and out.
Going to work? Jumper. Brunch with the gals? Jumper. Trying to look as fashionable as can be in the freezing cold? Jumper! Jumpers form the basis of my entire wardrobe this time of year – so much so that my wardrobe can hardly close thanks to mountains of chunky knits sticking out of the door (note to self; really should invest in a bigger wardrobe!) – not just because I’m lazy, but because they are really bloody practical.
Sass it up, dress it down, any outfit can be enhanced with a cosy piece of knitwear. More often than not I’ll just pair it with some straight leg jeans and ankle boots for day to day wear, but I also LOOOOVE the look of jumpers tucked it to snazzy midi’s for that ‘office on top, party on the bottom’ vibe. My current lust list includes one of those straight up and down satin midi’s which seem to be all the rage so I can pair it with a different jumper every day of the week.
Procrastination whilst writing this led me to have a little online browse of new in knitwear, sharing’s caring so below are some of my faves!
Can I just live in oversized jumpers forever please? They might seem a bit basic to some, but jumpers certainly make getting dressed in the morning one hell of a lot easier. Both because of the simplicity, but also because the only thing I want to put on after getting out of the shower is something that’s warm and cosy and resembles my duvet.
