I’m weak, I’ve caved in to that baker boy hype and I’m not sorry about it.
I’m a bit late to the party with this one but better late than never hey? I’ve always been one for hats – be it a fedora which is my go-to or a horrendously oversized straw hat come summer – but lately I’d been thinking about upping my hat game to something a bit more current, and really there was no other option but to opt for they very ‘blogger’ baker boy (well that or the beret, but I’m still on the fence about berets).
Sometimes I feel like these trend pieces only look good online and on the grid, they bring in the likes but something tells me they aren’t very wearable when it comes to going about your business in everyday life. Well I couldn’t be more wrong, this ‘lid’ is so super comfy and wearable. Yes that underlying ‘I look like dick’ hat-phobia does show it’s face every now and again when someone stares for a little longer than normal, but hell I’m hooked!
It even hides a multitude of sins including that three day old hair and those overgrown roots, not to mention casting a forgiving shadow over tired eyes. This hat is the lazy girl in you’s new best friend, whilst keeping you on trend if being on trend is your thing.
This one is from New Look, and for any fellow small headed girls out there I can confirm it does not slip down and cover my eyes, nor does it blow off in the wind – I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve had to do the embarrassing run down the road after my fedora as I’ve lost it to a gust of wind!
About the rest of my outfit – this whole ensemble is relatively old and has been worn a thousand times plus, I’ve just restyled it in a new way (and with a new headpiece!) to make it more exciting – proof that you don’t have to spend money to feel good! I struggle big time with the perceived pressure I have apparently put on myself to buy something new each week – or day when at it’s worst – to pap, post and talk about. Take this hat for instance; the internet told me I needed this, Instagram told me I needed it. I’m not mad about it because I feel bloody great in it, but I didn’t really NEED it. I’m hoping it will do me as well as this outfit has done me over the years, particularly this red Zara number which is actually a playsuit – believe or not there’s shorts under there!
Still on the fence about baker boys? I feel all kinds of Sienna Miller, retro vibes swishing about wearing this and for that fact alone would thoroughly recommend!
