May is shaping up to be a very good month! I’ve got four, four day weeks in a row at my day job thanks to the bank hols and a very exciting hen party, the weather is very slowwwwly looking up and my summer hols is edging closer by the second. Oh also I bought a new lens for my ~read: Sash’s~ camera so we might be able to do the whole close up, blurry background situation which I’ve been longing for for so long! I feel like I’ve been wandering around with a serious case of ‘smug face’ all of May because what is there not to be grateful for?!
I’ve also bought a ridiculous amount of new clothes, it’s shameful really. I would be seriously quite embarrassed by it if I didn’t feel so freaking satisfied every time I open up my wardrobe to be greeted by the finest array of spring/summer delights (if I do say so myself). I blame the blog and the constant need to shoot new, fresh content. You know, the stuff that’s still in the shops as opposed to my manky old New Look culottes that I wear to death but you can’t get anymore (someone remind me to write a post titled ‘why blogging is bad for my bank’, would this be something you’d read???). Speaking of, that’s also something I’ve been veeeery grateful for recently; I’ve collaborated with a fair few brands, and was paid to write my first post which had me feeling all sorts of ‘legit blogger’ as opposed to ‘blogger wannabe’!
Enough of the life update word dump, back to the new clothes because this post was prompted by the arrival of these NC pink check trousers in to my life.
Nobody’s Child is still a relatively new brand for me, I think I first discovered them in Topshop last summer where they stock some NC pieces as a concession and I bought the most glorious frill hem jumpsuit. FYI if you like the added touch of feminine frills to your clothes than NC is the place to be! But what I love most about them and why I fell in love with the brand as soon as I slipped in to said jumpsuit is that their sizing is literally made for me I swear. None of that ‘I’ll order two sizes and see which fits’ guess work that you have to use on so many of the big name online sites, with NC I know hands down every time a 6 will fit me like a glove making me more than happy to order from them over and over again (that and the brill quality and great prices!). Now obviously I know we’re all different shapes and sizes blah blah blah, and so this won’t necessarily be the case for everyone but the cut and fit of NC on my petite, straight up, straight down figure has me hooooooked.
Are pink and red not just a match made in fashion heaven?!
Although I would normally pair these with something of the monochrome variety on top I went a big colour crazy on this occasion because since the arrival of pink slogan tees with red writing (and vice versa) all I want to wear is pink and red together, all day every day. Enter this red crop from Primark which did just the trick. The cut also helped to make the outfit a whole lot more figure hugging because, well because you could say the trousers resemble somewhat of a parachute but I for one love that cut and find them very flattering. Equally I do still want to have a waist and not look like a giant sack of potatoes so the teeny tiny top worked wonders!
Ladies beware, if these trousers do find their way in to your life you are going to need some nude/white underwear to save on the old VPL situation because the material isn’t that thick. It kind of resembles linen but who knows what it’s actually made of because I’m not a material connoisseur. It was probably just so noticeable to me because I tried them on with black which is the complete opposite of ideal, but just FYI.
I feel like these are going to be a bit of a love it or hate it piece, so let me know your thoughts! My DM’s are always open over on Instagram or ping me an email. Enjoy the rest of May and the Bank Holiday lovelies xx
