Hey hey, how’s everyone enjoying this freak hot weather?! I am livingggg for it (boo to everyone complaining!) EXCEPT for the daily dilemma that is how on earth am I going to find the right balance between being naked enough to stay cool whilst being dressed appropriately for work?! Any tips, send them my way, I need ALL the help I can get.
Today’s post is a little chatty number discussing midi skirts – this dreamy leopard print one in particular – and how they are so not ‘me’ but I really wish they were.
Floaty midi’s are something I’ve admired from afar for a very long time.
I was forever thinking that they weren’t for me because I’m ‘too short’ or they ‘wouldn’t suit my style’ or I’d just look too ‘middle aged dinner lady’, but recently I’ve been increasingly bored of my wardrobe full of mini skirts which got me channelling my ‘if you love it, wear it’ philosophy; hence why this pleated baby is now mine.
Now I am no expert but if you’re anything like me and have resigned yourself to life without midi skirts I’ve found a formula for making it work (you can judge that for yourself!). First things first is to size down, especially if you’re petite, to stop you from being drowned by fabric; I got this in my regular XS but I took it in at the sides to make it more streamlined! If you’re a trainers a tee kinda gal and you’re worried that it won’t suit your style, just treat it like your favourite pair of jeans and pair it with what you would normally wear; for me that’s a slogan tee and my Nikes.
How this style looks so effortlessly cool on other people I will never know, but I love it despite feeling like a 10 year old wearing my mums clothes (when I first tried this on I was wearing my ASOS loafers and oh my, that was a look and not a good one!).
I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that this will also work in Autumn/Winter with some black sock boots and a baggy black jumper so hooray for transitional pieces that are less ‘fast fashion’ and more ‘wardrobe staples’.
Happy Sunday and enjoy the sunshine!
